No answers for a couple of days... I chatted with Lars off-list and he
says the last commit in the 'upstream' gmenu2x was in 2009, while there
were a number of commits into the one on the qi projects server in 2010,
and opendingux people also started committing into the gmenu2x hosted at
Qi now. So until there is more activity in the older gmenu2x, the one on
Qi may be considered the new upstream.

Oh well. That still doesn't fix the bugs we have in our latest OpenWrt
image. One thing we could do in the image is to boot into the console
instead. Any feedback on that?
Does anybody know other launchers? Is there a flexible console (ncurses)
launcher? Or something graphical but super light, scriptable, extendable?
