For kernel development, the best is to use QEMU (ML401 boards are becoming
non-sourceable, and are harder to work with for kernel debugging):

We can already use the GDB server of QEMU to debug the kernel. Furthermore,
VGA framebuffer and PS/2 are working, but simulations model for TMU, PFPU and
AC97 are missing.
What particular task do you find interesting?
