Unless you encrypt each and every message you send using the recipients’
public PGP keys, Google will always be able to access their contents.

Of course the same holds whatever your email provider is, and encrypting
every message you send is inconvenient, easy to get wrong, not feasible
when using mailing lists and not possible at all if the recipient doesn’t
have a PGP key of his own.
